[Near MINT w/box] Extraordinary!! Kowa KALLOVEX 6X6 TLR Prominar 75mm 3.5 JAPAN #2000083200157

Description

Kallovex was released at the end of 1958.
Knob winding and manual shutter charge, but it is a camera that complains about multi-format support. In the advertisement at that time,

Speaking of 1958, the twin-lens reflex market was already on the decline due to being pushed by the 35mm SLR. Perhaps it was a strategy to get on the trend of the best format film (127, 44, super slide) that was very popular in the United States at that time.

Supported formats other than the normal 6x6 format are 24x36mm, 28x40mm, 4x4cm, 4x5cm, and 35mm and bantam best format films can be used. Each comes with a mask for indoor use and a mask for eye level finder.

The screen using the condenser lens, which was a feature of Kalloflex, was changed to a normal screen with Fresnel lens, but the high-performance four-element prominer lens has been taken over by Kallovex.

The film loading is a start mark alignment type, but the counter is a manual reset type probably because it supports winding up to formats other than 6x6. After aligning the start mark, push the slide button diagonally upward while pressing the button in the winding knob to reset the counter.

The counter is located above the focus knob, and you can turn the base of the knob to switch between formats. Normal Brownie film uses a "12" counter. Since the counter occupied the place, the distance display and the depth of field index are on the opposite side of the camera, and it is interesting to rotate around in focus.

Although the shutter has been changed to Copal, it has a maximum speed of 1/500 seconds and is more than practical. The field of view of various formats is displayed as a line on the screen, but the display is also thin and I think that it is not so worrisome in normal shooting of 6x6. The pin trooper also has a wide field of view and is easy to use.

However, unfortunately, in addition to the release at the end of the twin-lens reflex boom, the best format that we focused on was hardly popular in Japan, so the Kallovex has become a model that is rarely seen in the current second-hand market.
