McCOY'S TRAIN 1977 HOUSTON TCA CONVENTION TANK CAR LONE STAR STANDARD GAUGE

Per Wiki: Standard Gauge, also known as wide gauge, was an early model railway and toy train rail gauge, introduced in the United in 1906 by the Lionel Corporation. As it was a toy standard, rather than a scale modeling standard, the actual scale of Standard Gauge locomotives and rolling stock varied by series. This car is part of Lionel's 500 series standard gauge freight cars, which are a bit smaller than the 200 series large freight cars. But, all Standard Gauge series have the same width trucks and run on the same Standard Gauge track.Standard Gauge trains ran on three rail track with an insulated center rail; the distance between the outer rails was 2-1/8 inches. Standard Gauge was produced from1906 – 1940. The pressed steel tin plate style of construction of this item was first introduced by Lionel in 1923. With the Great Depression, Lionel switched emphasis to O-Gauge, a smaller more cost effective toy standard. Thus, the majority of tin plate style rolling stock as offered here was produced between 1923 and 1939.
