Fantastic object. The trap can not be set as it. This is a display item. The wood has aged far to much to be strong enough to hold the spring.  A curious design, almost looks like it would fit perfectly in a comically sized mouse door you see in cartoons. However this is no cartoon, this trap is in a complementary condition to what its job is. The trap was not only designed to snap down to catch a rat, but it has a head spike element to it as well. menacing contraption.
