About the Book:
As a teacher of Lip-reading of some years standing, I have naturally read many text books on this subject, analysed them and adapted them for my own use and that of my students. There are many aspects of the subject, and each plays a vital part in the final adjustment of the student to life, where ‘eyes must take the place of ears’.

Miss Wyatt, a brave and very generous woman, shares with the world of deafness, her secret of success. This generosity is what makes her book such a very valuable addition to the existing small selection of books dealing with this subject.

Happiness and geniality just shine out of each page, as her well-tried plans are laid out for all to see and use. She starts as one might with a child, her simple methods are expressed in such a way, that she encourages the most intelligent to get down to an arduous but very much worthwhile job. She does not hide the fact that the acquisition of lip-reading is by no means easy or rapid, but she certainly makes it an interesting goal to aim at, with very satisfying and useful results, Unlike so many teachers, she treats her subject and her students in an adult way, and above all, with a delightful humour. This is no dry-as-dust subject, it Is a living thing for people who are very much alive,

The personal interests of her students are studied and admirably catered for, in an interesting manner.”
