CORINTHIAN MINI BRONZE HELMET WITH GRIFFIN

This is a smaller size replica of an ancient Corinthian style helmet made with bronze material like the originals. The Corinthian helmet type is one of the most immediately recognizable types of helmet, romantically associated with the great heroes of Ancient Greece, even by the Ancient Greeks themselves who rapidly moved to helmet types with better visibility, but still depicted their heroes in these helmets. It was a helmet made of bronze which in its later styles covered the entire head and neck, with slits for the eyes and mouth. A large curved projection protected the nape of the neck.Out of combat, a Greek hoplite would wear the helmet tipped upward for comfort. Originals of these can be seen in museums across the world, but the prototypes are in the Olympia museum in Greece.

Symbol of wealth and prosperity and guardians of prized possessions. The mythical griffin had powerful wings, the body of a lion and the beak of an eagle. Griffins were sacred to Apollo, whose treasure they guarded. They are also associated with Dionysos, as the guardians of his ever-flowing supply of wine.

All our bronze items, are cast in Greece, using the traditional 'lost wax' method. As nothing is mass-produced, there will inevitably be slight variations in patination and colouring. Each piece is, therefore, unique.(28-625-B)
