This is an original handbill advertising the premier of Andy Warhol’s “Empire.” This premier took place on 3/6/64 at the City Hall Cinema in New York, NY. This is from the personal collection of the late filmmaker Jonas Mekas, who was the cinematographer for Empire, and it includes an original signed letter of provenance from Mekas to myself from 2011. The letter covers three different handbills with a portion of it reading as follows:

…the leaflet for the world premier of the film Empire at the City Hall Cinema (1964)

…[This and the other two handbills] are original leaflets for those shows. They all come from my personal collection. Jonas Mekas

It measures 8-1/2”x11” and is in excellent condition with some light handling in the upper right corner area.
