This is an attractive original watercolour painting depicting a beautifully delicate and very realistic flower study of the plant "STAR OF BETHLEHEM". The artwork is signed to the lower left and is also labelled to the rear.
ARTIST PROFILE
The artist, Elizabeth McEwen was educated at Belfast Royal Academy and studied at Belfast College of Art from 1956 to 1960. After teaching art for 13 years, she turned to full-time painting in 1974. The Bell Gallery gave her a solo show in 1987; other exhibitions have been held in Coleraine, Holywood and Armagh. A member of numerous organisations including the Ulster Society of Woman Artists, the Ulster Watercolour Society, the Society of Botanical Artists and the RUA, she was also awarded the RUA Gold Medal in 1991.
FRAME
This original artwork is framed in a cracked silver effect wooden frame with double cream coloured mount. The item is glazed and is also annotated to the rear. There are a couple of minor nicks to the frame.
All fixtures and fitting to the rear ready for hanging.
