Napoleon's Medallion
commemorating his tomb (AD 1853)
A very scarce brass commemorative medallion minted in France on the occasion of placing the tomb stone of Napoleon I.
Obverse: the bust of the emperor to right. On his left "Napopponi" and to the right; "empereur" with initials C.T. below. Reverse: a closed casket on stand in the middle. in French; "tombeau de Napoleon I" above in curve and "inaugure le 5 mai 1853" below.
weighs: 4.69 gr. (23.3 mm. without loop)
