A wonderful antique piece of Scottish domestic history, rescued from a farm near Strathyre several years ago and in dry storage since. Laundry wringer / mangle, cast iron made in Glasgow foundry, with three wooden rollers. Early 20th century. Hand operated. One bit of past welding repair. Reversible movement and still operational - collector's piece or for a museum.

Different design from others I have seen as this operates the pressure with heavy lead weights rather than the top screw down system. One of the two lead weights is missing. You can see the other hanging low on one side.

Presumably cast in Glasgow at A & J MacFarlane's foundry as the metal plate says:
A & J MacFarlane Makers Glasgow.
