This is UNIQUE ANTIQUE AFRICAN AXE . Hand made about 100 years ago. Figure is made from a single piece of wood in the style  MAKONDE ( see picture). Height 19 inches or 49 centimeters. What is the uniqueness of this product ? Uniqueness in an unusual combination of a militant ax blade and a wooden handle in the form of a mother breastfeeding a child and preaching peace. One can also conclude that a large number of hoops on the hands and neck of a woman speaks of her high position in society ( see picture).   Perhaps the richest and most emotive cultural expression of the interplay between  seen in the work of the MAKONDE carvers of Mozambique and Tanzania, African artists whose traditions reach back into their historic roots and ancient origins.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                I had made pictures that serve as an additional description.
