Billitonite tektites are amongst the most expensive of indochinite tektites due to their rarity as well as beauty of their pieces. These are found only in Belitung Islands in Indonesia where mining for these specimens have become prohibited. Locals collect them for spiritual protection and good luck. Creation circa 700,000 years ago. These are usually found as surprise finds during tin panning as they help supplement the miners’ income.

Belitung Island is now designated as a UNESCO Geopark. As such mining of tektites are banned.
