These works of art are individually hand made by native craftsmen/women in Peru.
The Alpaca is raised for food and the skins are used for clothing and home decor.

The center fur pieces are about 1" to 1.5" thick and the borders are 2.5" to 3"  thick.

Most people say it's the softest silkiest fur they've ever felt.  

Each piece is hand cut from different pelts and fitted together like a jig saw puzzle. 

There can often be 50 to hundreds of pieces required to make the larger rugs. 

Due to the different textures and colors of the pelts each creation is unique.

No two are identical even when the exact same pattern is used.

They are useful, valuable and a constant source of pleasure.
