Vintage pantyhose elastic was never as strong as today spandex elastic stretch ability. Vintage elastic is weak is can fall/roll down not having the strength to fit some bodies. Please only buy "Vintage" pantyhose with this in mind. Vintage pantyhose can tear easily which is why clear nail polish was used to stop runs. This is just the nature of the Old nylon used years ago
Old store stock is has been setting on store shelves may have been collecting dust for years or touched by hands, fallen on floor, or been in containers with other garments. In any case the garment is old & may show these years, as it is very old & has not been washed or cleaned. Any old vintage retail price tags do not reflect the value of today. Vintage sizes were based upon sizes of past when customers wore their clothing far smaller & tighter than today, check the measurements for best fit.
