The BAT 158 was produced from 1950 to 1989 by VEB Sturmlaternenwerk Beierfeld or it's predecessors (1952-1989) in the GDR (Saxony). This company was once part of the MONSATOR and FORON combines.
The BAT 158 of the first series in the spring of 1950 was structurally a direct clone of the FH 275. It's production had just resumed in Beierfeld after February 1949. The renaming of the lamp was a result of the abandoned rights to the Feuerhand trademark.
