Revolutionary War/Napoleonic/War of 1812 period. Lacquered papier mache

2 ½” length, rectangular form with piano hinged top decorated in faux birch bark motif. Excellent with minor age blemishes only. Snuff use originated in the Americas. By this time, it was largely used by “dipping” which involved placing the dry snuff powder inside the cheek.
