The coin is round in shape with a raised rim on the obverse and the reverse. The edge of the coin is plain.
Obverse in the center within the inner circle against a stylized wing of a butterfly: the relief image of the State Coat of Arms of the Republic of Belarus, beneath – the year of issue, and a circumferential inscription: РЭСПУБЛIКА БЕЛАРУСЬ (THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS); on the left – alloy standard, on the right – the trademark of the Mint of Poland PLC, beneath – denomination: 20 РУБЛЁЎ (20RUBLES).
Reverse in the center against the relief image of plants – the purple emperor reproduced with the help of pad-printing technique; beneath, on the right-handed side, an inscription: APATURA IRIS.
