This Buy-It-Now Auction is for a BROWN Size 44 Safari Bush Jacket with Pleated Back.

NEW OLD STOCK...MINT IN BAG!

Please Note:  Item for sale was NOT removed from original bag for photos... another jacket was taken from its bag to be photographed.  You will receive the exact jacket Mint In Bag!  If that means nothing to you (you plan to wear it!), let me know if you would like me to open the bag and inspect the jacket before mailing it!  Would gladly do!

PLEASE!!!     Check the following measurements, not just the size on the label.  It is to your advantage to be aware of the measurements, not just the size on the label.  All returns will be at your own expense...that means I don't pay for, or refund, any shipping.  When in doubt, buy the next size up.

In my opinion these jackets run small, although long in the arms.  Please compare your size (your best fitting shirt or jacket) to the following measurements.  I have given many different measurements to insure the proper fit!

SIZE 44  MEASUREMENTS with jacket laying flat:

Measuring from the front:

Chest Size (measured arm pit to arm pit):   23 1/2 inches (46-47" around chest)

Waist/Stomach Size (measured from the jacket's belt loop to belt loop...not your pant waist):                                 22" (44" belly)

Measuring from the back:

Back Width (measured from shoulder to shoulder):  18 3/4 inches

Sleeve Length (measured from center of neck/collar base to end of cuff):   35 1/2 inches

Sleeve Length (measured from shoulder to end of cuff):  27 inches

Sleeve Length (measured from arm pit to end of cuff ):   22 inches

Length of Jacket (measured from back of neck/collar to bottom of hem):   33 inches

Description:

The Hunting World jacket you are bidding on is a SIZE 44 Pleated Back in BROWN.  The color is a darker brown than the photos appear. Note the color of the slacks in photo #6 (sold separately).  Brown is on the left.  Khaki is on the right.

Note:  This is a different style than those with shoulder epaulets.  With the exception of shoulder epaulets (there are none), most everything is identical including the large "bellow" bush pockets, the slit up the back of the jacket, belt loops and belt, and hand sewn buttons.  However, this jacket has what is called an "automatic deep pleated back" which the creator of Hunting World designed for more flexibility.  The inside has a silky lining attached to the neckline and an elastic band controlling the pleated back.  The fabric has a great feel to it, soft yet crisp...100% cotton (gabardine).  The tag says "Dry Clean" but we have washed ours in cold water/hung to dry and they have not shrunk.  It also says "Re-Proof if Required"...I would assume that waterproofing washes out, so keep that in mind.  Hunting World made their products all over the world...these jackets were made in China...the quality never changed.

This Hunting World safari jacket is new old stock, probably late 1980's/ early 1990's...mint in bag!!!  Hunting World quit making safari clothing some time ago.  They continue to make some clothing, jackets, luxury bags, etc., and were a high-end shop on Greene Street in New York City from the 1970's until they closed their doors in March 2008.

The safari jacket I am selling still maintains its 1970's look when compared to a 1975 Hunting World catalog.  The large pointed collar and slender fit don't appear to have changed much over the years.  I believe this jacket to be from the late 1980's to the early 1990's for several reasons:  (1) The plastic bag with the Hunting World logo has a triangular recycling symbol on it and I believe these symbols came in to being in 1988.  (2)  When contacting the distribution center in Maine, whose address was on the original box containing this jacket, I was told they had not shipped Hunting World clothing in at least 15 years.

I am still looking for Hunting World catalogs from the 1980's and 90's as I am not sure about the retail price of this jacket, but in a 1975 catalog jackets were listed at $165!

All the information I have included here is through my own research.  The one thing I do know is that these are new old stock, and that Hunting World does not make these safari jackets anymore.

****Any questions????  Please ask them before bidding.  Yes, I combine shipping!!  Thank you.****
