This listing is for 25 seeds of Jacaranda (Latin name is Jacaranda mimosifolia).

Jacaranda grows in well drained soil and tolerates drought and brief spells of frost and freeze.

This species thrives in full sun and sandy soils, which explains their abundance in warmer climates. Mature plants can survive in colder climates down to -7 °C, however, they may not bloom as profusely. Younger plants are more fragile and may not survive in colder climates when temperatures drop below freezing. If you live in a region with snow, there’s no reason you can’t grow this hardy plant, but you might have to grow it inside in winters for the first few years.

Full instructions are provided with these seeds. No pretreatment is necessary, I planted seeds from the same batch in seed raising mix outside in November and they germinated in 22 days. I got a 60% germination success rate so far, but more seeds may germinate with time. Would recommend planting in late Spring to early Autumn/fall, as the optimum for germination is when daytime temperatures reach 25°C. They will also germinate down to 10°C but it will take much longer.

These seeds will be sent from New Zealand. You have the option of sending via regular air mail or expedited shipping. If you need a tracking number, please choose the expedited shipping option even though it is more expensive, because if you opt for regular mail, I cannot provide tracking.

If your address is in South America, the Arabian Peninsula or Africa you MUST choose expedited shipping. Normal mail often does not seem to get to these destinations from New Zealand.

Expedited shipping takes less than 1 week worldwide. Regular mail to the rest of the world (apart from the above geographical regions) often takes 4-6 weeks. Please do not complain if you haven't received your seeds after 2 weeks. If you live in Greece, or neighbouring countries please be aware that it is not unusual for regular mail from New Zealand to take 8 weeks to reach you.
