Description
Here we have a very fine and well-painted Armorial porcelain plate from the Yongzheng Period (1723-1735 ). Painted in the center with the Dutch arms of de Jonge (or de Jongh), decorated in blue and green enamel, iron-red, gilt and silver encircled by an underglazed blue floral, bead and scroll band, the rim with four precious objects and flower sprays encircled by a chain linked border. The reverse with underglazed blue butterflies and flower sprays.
A plate from this service is illustrated by Arlene M. Palmer in A Winterthur Guide to Chinese Export Porcelain. Catalogue of the Henry Francis du Pont Winterthur Museum, New-York (Crown Publishers, 1976, pl. 2).
Size and Condition: 9 inches in diameter, about 1 1/4 inches high. The plate is in good condition with some frits and small chips along the edge. No hairlines. (see last photos).
