Excellent example of 1960's safari chair, in midcentury modern style. Framework in excellent vintage condition. Leather mostly good but will need replacement straps.

The original campaign chairs inspired the 1930's adaptation by Kaare Klint, which in turn inspired the Arne Norell version in the 1960's.

This chair has no makers' mark, so the maker cannot be positively identified. I have priced it as an unknown, but it may likley be a Norell - the framework is extremely similar to his in layout, timber, and finishing.

The back and seat leather is in good shape. The arm rests are a bit worn but will hold up fine. The strapping on the bottom of the seat is holding for an 80kg adult for now, but really will need to be reinforced with new straps, or have the straps replaced. This is very common for these chairs and was anticipated in their design - replacement sets can be bought online easily.

These regularly go for $3-5k when known Arne Norells, pricing lower to reflect lack of authentification.

Collection from Sydney or Blue Mountains by prior arrangement.
