McGill University is a public research university in
Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It was established in 1821 by royal charter,
granted by King George IV. The university bears the name of
James McGill, a Montreal merchant originally from Scotland whose bequest
in 1813 formed the university's precursor, McGill College. McGill
offers degrees and diplomas in over 300 fields of study,
with the highest average admission requirements of any Canadian
university. Most students are enrolled in the five largest faculties,
namely Arts, Science, Medicine, Engineering and Management. (Wikipedia)
In 1955 the School for Teachers and the Department of Education were
combined to become, within the Faculty of Arts and Science, the
Institute of Education. To these was joined, in 1957, the McGill School
of Physical Education (founded in 1912).
No size marked as this would have been an individually tailored item. Measures approximately 36" across the chest, 30" across the waist and 32" long overall. Side seam zipper marked "Lightning". Vintage condition as shown with scattered pin sized holes and signs of previous use.
