In 1936 Republic Pictures developed The Three Mesquiteers series based on the characters created by William Colt MacDonald in his Western adventure novels. The Three characters he created were Stony Brooke, Tuscon Smith and Lullaby Joslin. The series was an idea of Nat Levine, so the story goes. There were 51 films in all and 9 different "teams" of stars to portray MacDonald's characters. The series ran from 1936 until 1943.

This is the first film in the series, Variant # 1. This consists of one film "The Three Mesquiteers". The stars are Robert Livingston as Stony Brooke, Ray Corrigan as Tuscon Smith, and Syd Saylor as Lullaby Joslin. This is a rare one to find uncut! This was to be the only Mesquiteers film that Syd Saylor would appear in. He would be replace by Max Terhune as Lullaby. Nice quality on this one.

Synopsis: When a group of World War 1 buddies head west to farmstead, they run into trouble.
