Photograph Notes: This building used to be the admin block of the long gone Wantage engineering the entrance to which was to the right on the corner. A shame they did not keep the sign over the gateway. The place was like a time warp when I went there to take material for machining from the company I used to work for. The machine shop still had the overhead pulley system from the engine house that took the belts down to the various machines in use there, though by then they were all three phase. The toilets in had large gaps in the bottom of the doors so the Foreman could check if the workers were skiving. The courtyards was still there and you could imagine the horse and carts loading and off loading in there. I feel it was a great loss when the place shut down.
