Photograph Notes: The substantial stone bridge near Gnosall Heath carries only a farmer's track between fields. The Wellington to Stafford railway was originally built in 1849 by the Shropshire Union Railways and Canal Company, but eventually closed to passengers and freight in 1964. A long distance footpath, The Way for the Millennium now uses this stretch of the line, and makes a very attractive and secluded route. A report by the Association of Train Operating Companies in 2009 has suggested that this line should be re-opened.
