This is an envelope signed by two "Early Birds of Aviation",
Martin F. Scanlon
and Edward A. Korn.


The
Early Birds of Aviation was an organization of early pilots.
Membership was limited to those who had piloted an airplane,
glider, or gas balloon before December 17, 1916. The original
organization dissolved with the death of the last living member
in 1998. The current organization is devoted to the history of
these early pilots.



General Martin Francis Scanlon
(1889-1980) had a long
and distinguished career in the U.S. Army air Force.


Edward Albert Korn (1888-1980) was an early experimenter in
aviation from Ohio, along with his brother Martin Korn (1889-1913).
Martin was killed, and Edward was seriously injured, in an
airplane crash in 1913.


This
is an envelope, about 3.5" by 6.5", postmarked 1978.

The envelope was postmarked in Kill Devil Hills, a town in
North Carolina near Kitty Hawk.

The envelope is in very good condition.
