In 1978, one of the most versatile and influential distortion pedals of all time was invented in Kalamazoo , MI. The JHS Pedals PackRat is the ultimate homage to more than 40 years of development of the Proco RAT and its influence on the sound of the guitar. Artists of all genres have used the iconic sounds in this humble black box to create their sounds including Nirvana, John Schofield, Pink Floyd, Metallica, REM, the Eagles, Jeff Beck and Radiohead. The JHS Pedals PackRat uses the same unique digital switching system as the Muffuletta and Bonsai to route the signal path through 40 individual switches through a total of 261 components. This means that in each of the nine selectable Legendary or Ultra Rare modes (OG V1, White Face V3, Turbo V5, BRAT V6, Dirty V7, LA, Landgraff MO'D, Caroline, JHS Mode) complete ndly analog circuits are used that perfectly replicate the original template down to the aging components. Operating the PackRat is very easy. The Volume knob controls the overall volume of the pedal, the Distortion knob controls the amount of distortion and the Filter knob can be used to brighten or darken the sound, this is effectively a simple low-pass filter. The mode selector is a graduated pot that locks as you scroll through the nine legendary versions of this circuit. If you change the sound mode, the analog circuit is adapted to the respective setting, which leads to new values for resistors, capacitors, diodes and operational amplifiers - a replica can't be more authentic!
