Here is a beautiful Rookwood Pottery Standard glaze large pitcher decorated by Albert R. Valentien. It has a spray of milkweed seed pods releasing their seeds against a shaded yellow to orange brown ground on a triangular flared lip form. It measures 7 3/4 inches tall and 9 1/2 inches lip to handle. Marked with the RP die-stamp, five flames for 1891, shape number 259B, and the incised cypher of the artist. It is in great condition with no chips, cracks, firing flaws, or repairs, just a short mark in the making under the glaze on the inside of one spout, not cracked. A great example showing Rookwood's floral artistry in their early pottery.
