Description

A clear, silky smooth, polyurethane finish that provides excellent protection against wear and scratches. It's refined formulation ensures that the natural timber beauty is brought out. Suitable for use all interior furniture, panelling, doors, window frames, skirting boards, architraves, trim, toys, MDF and plywood. PREPARATION New Timber How to prepare new timber for Clear Varnish: Sand to a smooth surface. And remember to remove all sanding dust before coating! To achieve a super-smooth finish or if the timber grain is open or coarse, apply a coat of Feast Watson Sanding Sealer and sand back as per the directions. For naturally oily timbers, seal the timber with Feast Watson Proofseal as per the directions prior to application. Previously Coated Timber How to prepare previously coated timber for Clear Varnish: Previously varnished timber must be sanded to a dull finish. This is to ensure only the best results for your timber. Remember to remove all sanding before coating. APPLICATION Let's get started… Stir the product thoroughly with a flat blade stirrer, and take care not to introduce and bubbles. Using a brush, roller or spray, apply Clear Varnish. Are you using a spray? No worries - feel free to thin the varnish using 10% mineral turpentine. Or a roller? use a short nap (5mm) mohair roller. Ensure edges and end grain are fully coated. Allow for 8 hours drying between coats. When applying extra coats, remember to sand lightly in-between with a fine sandpaper. Are you applying over previously varnished coating? Two coats is enough! Are you applying over new timber? If applying by spray, apply a minimum of three coats. More coats may be applied for extra durability. Looking to stain? Apply Prooftint following label directions prior to the application of Clear Varnish. Allow Prooftint to dry the recommended period before applying Clear Varnish. Alternatively, add 10% Prooftint to the first coat of Clear Varnish, and allow 8 hours before applying the second coat. If the desired colour is achieved in the first coat, apply subsequent coats without the Prooftint additive. Wanting to further develop your colour intensity? Add Prooftint to the subsequent coats. MAINTENANCE How to maintain my timber after using Feast Watson Clear Varnish: Always monitor your timber for signs of colour loss or surface defects. When required, lightly sand the surface and remove dust. Recoat with additional coats of Clear Varnish as per application instructions. To rejuvenate your interior furniture and other sealed timber surfaces, polish with Feast Watson Furniture Polish.
