This vintage watercolor painting features the iconic Eiffel Tower in Paris, France. Created by esteemed artist G. Lelong, this original piece is signed by the artist and produced using a watercolor technique on paper. The painting itself measures 9.25 inches by 11.5 inches, with an overall size of 12 inches by 16 inches. The unframed artwork depicts the famous landmark during the post-war period of 1940-1970, showcasing the tower in all its grandeur. Whether you're an art collector or just a lover of Paris, this handmade print is a must-have addition to any collection.

The mat is 12” x 16” with the painting itself 9.25” x 11.5”.  There are water stains in the margins. This antique watercolor painting of the Eiffel Tower is by G. LELONG  and signed by the artist in the lower right corner. G. Lelong was a French artist who specialized in watercolors and ink landscapes. Born in 1900 and died in 1979.

Date and provenance of this piece are unknown.  Best guess is that a now deceased relative brought the painting back from a trip to Europe in the 1940’s or 1950’s.  Based on the irregular edges of the painting it appeared to me, at first, that this is an original painting done directly on the mat.  Art critic clearly is not my expertise.  A little research helped.

Other watercolors by Lelong do exist and are available for sale.  Sellers variously describe their paintings as “original,” “hand colored lithograph” or “print.”  Duplicates can be found, so a true “original” is unlikely.  Searches only revealed two other copies of this Eiffel Tower painting, making it rare among the other works of Lelong.
