1x WW2 Seaman's Pay Book

An Exact Copy from an original WW2 Merchant Navy Pay Book,
as issued by the Ministry of Transport. 

 The original Pay Book the exact copy was made from, was issued in April 1939,
to a Merchant Navy Leading Hand, but he was taken in to the Royal Navy in May 1940.   

The original Pay Book detailed the holders career through to Captain of an Royal Navy Patrol Vessel, and up until his retirement in November 1943, and this pay book was used throughout the whole of that time.

This pay book had an "insert sheet" issued by the Royal Navy pinned to it, detailing pay, allowances, KUA, etc., showing the pay book was also being used by the Royal Navy.

Unlike the officially issued Royal Navy Pay Book of that time, which was also an Identity Card.  This pay book is solely a pay, service and qualifications record book,
that was initially issued to Merchant Navy Sailors, So it would have been used with a Merchant Navy or Royal Navy Identity Card.

However, this pay book does have a section to record the holders civilian and
"Next of Kin" details in it.

An interesting item.
