This original French vintage advertising poster, dating to 1898 and very much in the Alphonse Mucha high nouveau style, advertises the services of the Wetterwald company, a turn of the century printer of high-end product labels - wine & cigar box labels, business cards and so on.

There are two variants available for this design - one with the labels included and another without, showing just the central figure, the symbols of the zodiac and the elaborate frames into which the labels will be inset in the final version of the poster. As you can see from the images, this ‘before letters’ proof version still has the printers proof blocks of colour at the side and has a slightly broader margin. Whilst these can be removed or mounted over I consider them to be quite interesting from an academic perspective.

The final version of the poster is available in a separate listing.

What may not be evident from these images is the high metallic glow with which the silver ink used to create the framing elements shines in person. If you are interested then I will attempt to capture this effect in additional images. The general condition, execution and quality of these lithographs are absolutely first rate from every perspective.

North American buyers please note - if you buy, or offer to buy, this poster from the identical listing I have created on the eBay.co.uk site then internal U.S. sales taxes will not apply as they do when purchasing via ebay.com. Please note, however, that there is only ONE poster and that the duplicate listing will be end3d in the event of a sale.

Poster will be sent with tracking and insurance by FedEx, UPS or DHL. Please ask all and any questions you might have.
