A wonderful Thai hill tribal wood buffalo bell tribe that has be converted into a wind chime from Thailand. This large bell such as this one are hung about the buffalo's necks so the owner can more easily locate their animals while they are out feeding in the jungles. The Buffalo is the backbone of Thailand. They help in working in the Rice Paddies, they carry heavy loads and are very important in all aspects of the lives of Thailand's rural people. These bells are called Deng in the native tongue of Thailand. They would hang around the neck of the buffalo and ring when the herd wandered off so the farmer was alerted.
