A 10-volume collection of Horace's works (Quintus Horatius Flaccus 65 BCE-8 BCE) in Latin with Dacier's French translation and very extensive historical commentaries of the same. Published by J.B. Christophe Ballard in 1709. in Paris.

Description: Strong and solid folds, bound in brown leather with 5 veins on the spine. Spine with golden embossing of letters and ornaments with floral motifs. Titles on red tag, volume number on green. Each book block is dyed red (vintage red). Marble endpapers.

Condition: Good with moderate wear to page edges, corners and covers. Some of the volumes are a bit more worn, volume VI has a defect at the bottom of the spine of approx. 12mm. The interior is complete, no wrinkles, breaks, moisture, signs of fungus, insects. Pages clean. Correct page binding, no loose pages.
Original Latin text in cursive, French translation with comments in plain typeface. The beginning of each work is decorated with floral motifs and initials; the end of the work is provided with a floral colophon. There is an engraving of Horace on the frontispiece.
