Roy Kyle started writing his memoirs at aged 89 and almost completed his story before he died in 1996. Bryce Courtney was asked to edit Roy's work with a view to having it published. This is an ANZAC story from the ordinary soldier's point of view. Enlisting at 17, Kyle turned 18 during the Battle of Lone Pine, Gallipoli. He was one of the last to leave Gallipoli.He also served in Egypt and later at the Somme where he was wounded.
