Up for auction is a Stevens & Williams of England Verre de Soire perfume bottle  There is no marking on the bottle that this is from Stevens & Williams.  However, if you search the web, there are similar bottles with this cranberry and green swirl, just with different sterling screw caps and necks.  (I am wondering if the original neck and screwcap were replaced).  One thing I learned is that Soie de Verre in French translates to glass silk.  And when you feel this bottle, you will be amazed at how wonderfully silky it feels!
  • The shape of this bottle is a large spherical perfume bottle.  It has swirls in the bottle texture that you can feel.  And the colors change from a cranberry swirl at the top, to a yellowish swirl in the center, ending with a green color at the bottom third of the bottle.
    • I purchased this bottle understanding there are 5 nicks/damage to the glass bottle.  See pictures for more details.  The damage has been smoothed over or filled, but they are still very visible.  (see close-ups of the 3 groupings where the damage can be found)  The last 6 photos.
    • The sterling neck/collar to this bottle may have been replaced as it does not fit very evenly on the bottle. 
      • ​The interior of the cap has cork inside, perhaps to help seal bottle from leakage, but that was a crude method.  
    • The sterling mushroom like cap and neck could do with a polish, I will leave to the new owner to perform.
    • As mentioned above, when you feel the bottle glass, it is so smooth, it’s like touching silk.    
  • The bottle underside also has some wear to the glass due to it’s age
    • I will remove my taped inventory tag from the underside of the bottle prior to shipping.
  • Height of this perfume bottle is 4. 5 inches.
 
This bottle probably was displayed on mi-lady’s dressing table.  This bottle still can be displayed nicely in your case.  Due to the age, this is an antique, and you rarely find them for sale.  So, if you are interested in having an example of this glass, I know you will enjoy this perfume bottle despite its not being a perfect specimen.
