A rare pair of rattan chairs. Circa early 20th century by the renowned British furniture house Maple & Co. Limited, these handmade masterpieces are a testament to an era where quality reigned over quantity. Each reed was hand dyed and then woven into beautiful patterns, mixed in with tortoise colored bamboo. The work is remarkable, truly stunning. The first photo after main photo of the maker plate really shows off the true hue of the colors; a mid range plum, soft orange, and a green that is a mix of celadon and moss. Most certainly where modern makers Serena & Lily and many others are influenced from.

The style and colored rattan of these are often copied by modern makers; imitation is certainly the sincerest form of flattery, though the original is the original.

In very excellent, near pristine antique condition. They evoke a bit of an Art Deco flair, would truly work in many styles and looks: Coastal, Palm Beach Chic, Hollywood Regency, French Cottage...
