1933 Italy - Kingdom, Airmail, no. 51T/52T - Triptychs Verc - MNH** 1933 North Atlantic Air Cruise July 1, August 12, 1933. The Decennial Air Cruise, or North Atlantic Cruise, or 'North Atlantic Aircruise', also known as the 'Italy-North America', 'Orbetello-Chicago-New York-Rome' Air Cruise, or 'II Atlantic Cruise', was the second and last mass transatlantic air cruise held between July 1 and August 12, 1933. It was organized by Italo Balbo in the first decade of Directing Aeronautica and as a propaganda occasion for the Century of Progress, the World's Fair held in Chicago for the centenary of the city's founding. 25 SIAI-Marchetti S.55X seaplanes took part, organized into 8 squadrons. On board 52 pilot officers, 1 engineer officer and 62 specialist non-commissioned officers.
