Antique Chinese Qing Embroidered Pillow with Scalamandre Border/Backing.

The embroidery dates from the early 1800's and is silk on silk with metal thread couching. 

Heavily hand-embroidered and meticulous in craftsmanship. 

The embroidery was properly stored for decades and therefore retains beautiful colors and does not have fading but there is a small stain on back (see photo). There are some loose threads as well. 

In the late 1990's the embroidery was created into these custom designed pillows using pure silk vintage Italian Scalamandre fabric on front and back.  The pillow insert is down.

The pillow measures 20" x 20"
