Le Tombeau de Saint Dominique by J.-J. (Joachim Joseph) Berthier, O.P.

Beautifully illustrated, with 37 plates, including frontispiece.  Covers in "Poor" condition.  Interior is very nice, overall.

Librairie Internationale de L'Oeuvre de Saint Paul, Paris, Circa 1895.

(II) (leaves), (II) (2 blank leaves), x, 174pp., (II) leaves.  Edition tiree a quatre-vingts examplaires sur papier velin a la forme (This edition is not numbered.)  Includes engraved frontispiece and 36 (thirty-six) additional plates at end of volume.  A number of additional illustrations to text, all in black and white.  Circa 1895.  Volume was originally bound in 1/2 black leather, with gilt lettering to spine.  Leather is very worn, including being brittle in places.  The leather over the spine is detached at back and nearly detached at front.  The buyer should assume that the leather over spine will become completely detached.  That being said, because the binding is a reinforced binding, the boards remain much more firmly attached.  This volume is definitely a candidate for rebinding or restoration, at some point.  With minor spacing to hinges, the rest of the binding remains largely firm and the text block is square.  Volume has been fully collated and each page examined.  Some foxing to interior, with heavy foxing to top 2-3" of some leaves.  All called for plates are present.  All called for tissues over plates remain in place, with some creasing to several of these tissues.  Minor creasing and a few tiny tears to extremities of some leaves, though this isn't offensive.  Crease to area near fore-edge of front free endpaper.  Overall, the interior is quite nice.  VERY SCARCE  Seller Inventory #035502
