This is a spectacular antique oak cabinet that was manufactured by Yawman & Erbe of Rochester, New York, in the late 1800's, probably around 1898. It was used for the last 100+ years in our family's surveying company, holding files and records that were used daily by the Boston-area surveyors. It is a stackable unit (6 pieces) so it is very easy to move and transport. The pieces sit on a base with four wooden legs (9" tall). The cabinet measures approximately 33" wide x 17" deep x 57" tall.
The top piece has two doors that open to three large shelves that could hold artwork, maps or other large documents. The next section holds five (5) index card drawers. Under that, there are many individual horizontal drawers on the left and double horizontal drawers on the right. In addition, just above the legged base are two regular file drawers to hold large files. The cabinet has all original hardware. This cabinet has stunning decorative features and would make a welcome addition to your front hall or other space.
This antique cabinet is in very good condition. To be expected due to age, there are stains, scratches, and knicks/dents but overall it is a very special piece of furniture. There are some pieces of thin wood that are separating on the back.
