Bestowing Blessing
Origin: Southeast Asian, Circa: mid-20th century
H 19 in. (48cm), W 6 in. (15cm), D 5 in. (12.5cm)
Condition: very good

The goddess stands in animated tribhanga posture holding a budding lotus in her right hand, poised gracefully upon a drop leaf lotus pedestal. The features of her broader face are defined; her smiling face is sublime in expression. The contours of her slim body are curvilinear, framing a higher waistline, and her breasts and hips are round, admirably displaying the lush sensibility of the divine feminine. The Dewi Goddess is adorned with jeweled necklaces, armbands, bracelets, and a girdle from which hangs tassel cords. She wears a diaphanous dhoti delicately hand-chased with stylized floral designs. The fine vintage Javanese Lakshmi or Tara brass goddess represents Hindu and Buddhist traditions. Overall in very good condition.
