This is a Brand new LG WH16NS40 firmware version 1.02 that came from the factory with firmware 1.05 depending on the date of manufacture (2023 in this case), and service code NS51.
The later firmware versions were restricted from reading 4K blu ray discs, but these drives have been reverted back to the last version that allowed the reading of these discs.
These drives will read and burn BD-XL discs which makes them an excellent choice for backing up more data onto fewer discs.
This is a genuine LG drive with the official unlocked firmware thats been tested and put through its paces.

PLEASE BEAR IN MIND:
The drive will read 4k blu ray discs but may not play them. You may have to get a ripping program to utilize this drive's functionality. The free version of MakeMKV is included on the utilities disc which will allow you to rip 4k discs for 30 days but you'll have to buy a licence from the program's developer after that.
