DESCRIPTION
This is a gorgeous vintage formal dress from the 1950s. It does not have a brand tag, but it does have a made in the USA union label. The dress would make a great prom dress, and I could also easily see it being used as a cocktail gown. The inner lining of the dress is black acetate The bodice is fitted, and it is completely covered in shiny black sequins. The dress has a fitted waist, and the skirt has a full cut. The outer layer of the skirt feels like a silk chiffon to me, and it is semi sheer. The dress has thin spaghetti straps that start in the center of the bodice and go over the shoulders to the back. There is a small bow accent at the base of the straps in the front. The dress closes with a metal zipper down the back.
PLEASE NOTE: When I photographed this dress, I displayed it over a crinoline to help show off the fullness of the skirt. However, the listing is just for the dress. The crinoline is not included.
SIZING
There are no size tags on this dress, but I believe it would best fit a size XS. The actual measurements are as follows:
Bust: 16 inches across, underarm
to underarm (32 inches around. There are bust darts just below this that
expand the bust slightly. For reference, my mannequin has a 32 inch bust,
and this dress fit her just fine in the chest.)
Waist: 12.5 inches across (25 inches around)
Hips: Full and roomy
Length: 42 inches from the top of the strap to the hem
Note: These are the actual measurements of the garment, so please leave yourself room for comfort of movement. All measurements were taken with the item laying flat. The flat measurements were doubled to give an approximate measurement around.
CONDITION
This dress is in very good vintage condition. I did notice a small, very faint dusty looking mark on the back of the skirt (see last picture), but I honestly don't think this will be noticeable when the dress is worn! I had this dress dry cleaned when I acquired it, but I didn't notice the faint mark until after the dress has been cleaned, so I didn't point it out. It's possible that further dry cleaning would remove the faint mark. However, the dress is totally wearable as is!

I go to the post office every week day, Monday - Friday. I typically ship items out one business day after I've received payment, so if I receive payment on Friday, your item will go in the mail Monday (although if I receive payment early enough, I might get it in the mail the same day). If you need an item to be shipped right away, just let me know and I will do my best to get it out to you as soon as possible!

Clothing Condition:
The large majority of the items in my store are vintage and/or pre-owned. I will list any major flaws in the item description. However, most vintage clothing has been around for several decades or more, and it may have some minor snags in the fabric, the occasional loose thread or other minimal signs of wear. Vintage items may also have raw seams that have not been serged. By purchasing, you are accepting that these items are used and may not be 100% perfect. However, if you feel I have overlooked a major flaw, please let me know!
