Bundle C: four catalogs for $70 – a savings of $44 over individual purchase.

Lackawanna Cut Glass Co. softcover catalog is from 1903 – 1905.  Selling directly from the catalog, Lackawanna was in business for only three prolific years.  This small in dimension catalog is well executed, illustrating 89 patterns on 84 pages.  In addition to pricing, the catalog contains fascinating contemporary statements covering manufacture, design, use and care of their product.

J. Hoare and Company, Cut Glass of Corning, N.Y.   1882 – 1915   Reprinted 1992.  Bob Hampton’s introduction describes this as a “pictorial description of glass production in the Corning plant from 1882 through 1910”.  A collection of 144 un-indexed pages of scrapbook material from the Rakow Library.  It is divided into four sections, each with introductory statements, and includes both numbered and named patterns, some relatively obscure.

Missouri Glass Company / Niagara Cut Glass Company   Reprinted 2004.  “A Book of Gems”   This unique production contains a catalog from two separate companies published jointly in one physical volume.  The Missouri Glass Company appears to have identified their patterns by number only, at least in this catalog.  Interestingly enough, in general the higher the pattern number the more elaborate the cutting and higher the article’s price.   The Niagara Cut Glass Company catalog presents 15 new patterns.  In a bow to the company’s geographical roots, some of the patterns are named after Northeastern Indian tribes, e.g. Seneca, Iroquois, et al. 52 Pages.

John N. Illig, Corning, NY, 1912, Reprinted 2009.  This catalog contains approximately 110 pages with a comprehensive index.  Also included is a new biography of John Illig by Jane Shadel Spillman, Curator of American Glass at the Corning Museum of Glass. John Illig started his own firm in 1912 and produced of the finest copper wheel engraved glass known until 1924 when his firm closed.  His works are elusive and sought after today.
