Helena Cardoso is a portuguese designer who is exploring authenticity as a form of luxury by creating an independent fashion brand that praises remarkable Portuguese artisanal skills.

The wrapping up gesture inspired this collection. In Portugal women have always worn shawls to cover themselves from the cold, but also to warp round their babies and even to support their breast in a time when bras weren’t that available.

This collection was created having that gesture in mind. The pieces were designed in a way that allow the users to warp up themselves no matter whether it’s a cardigan, an écharpe, a cape or a jacket.

Besides that I’ve always searched for (just like the artisans who work with me) inspiration in every place I’ve been: in nature and in its textures; in the architecture of the vernacular houses; in the landscape of the fields, in the people who work there and in their habits and traditions.

Therefore all fabrics, textures and patterns are hand weaved in Portugal using traditional techniques and natural fabrics combining wool, linen and silk.

The combination between the quality of the materials, the exquisite manufacturing and the contemporary design, is materialised in these elegant, unique and timeless pieces!
