In hardcover with the original dust-jacket, a 1960 first edition of this scarce book on how to get the best experience from your holiday travels abroad, written by the English journalist and war-correspondent Austin Hatton, with illustrations by Jannat Cooke and Marianne Curette.

From the dust-jacket notes: - "Don't take leave of your senses ... when you go travelling abroad. Take all five of them with you - they will make your holiday five times as rewarding. This is a guide with a difference. Instead of telling you what to see, it tells you how to see it, what to look for, how to use your eyes, your ears, your nose, your sense of taste and your sense of touch. After reading it you will not only find travel more enjoyable, but also cease to feel a stranger in strange lands. The author, travelling as a war reporter, a special correspondent and a diplomatic correspondent, has been forced by the urgencies of his missions to find the quickest ways of getting to know and of understanding the people of other countries - and of appreciating his surroundings. He uses his experience to help other travellers to feel at home even when they are away. It is a travel book that will help you bring back your memories alive."

The Contents are: - i. Don't Leave Your Senses. - ii. The Seeing Eye. - iii. The Common Touch. - iv. The Hearing Aid. - v. The Fragrant Way. - vi. The Best of Taste.
