VINTAGE ANTIQUE LARGE 12x8 CAPODIMONTE ITALIAN PORCELAIN HINGED JEWLERY CASKET BOX MADE IN ITALY

Comes from and old antique store
Very beautiful, very intriguing casket box
Listed it as vintage antique because not sure when it was made

Has a minor hairline crack on very bottom (near right back corner, in photo it's on top left corner)  (see photo # 12). Might have happened during the manufacturing process

Some white places on gold in photos are from reflected light and not from worn 24K gold leaf paint
But does have different degrees of wear where gold is worn from age and use
It's a very beautiful and impressive piece (lots of eye candy for any one that sees it)
Not an ordinary small box, this is an extra ordinary wonderful work of art by very very skilled artisans

Has 25 different hight relief (all different designs and characters) panels, some very large panels and others smaller panels (see phots, pretty amazing designs and workmanship). All hand crafted, molded, painted and fired).
Panels depict nudes, cherubs, courting couples, dancing couple, lanscapes, sheep, flowers, gardens and more.
Looks like the artist signed his name (I. Ferra) in one of the very large panels (left hand end). Hard to read and very small
Has three high relief jewel like reddish porcelain pieces ringed with gold on very top
Bottom is marked ITALY 613, don't see any other markings
Brass hinged lid, opens and closes easily
Colors are blues, blacks, whites, gold and some reds

What is a casket box?
The term “casket box” is the original name to a modern day jewelry box. In earlier periods, the box functioned as a place to keep important documents. During these times, most people did not walk around with the need for an entire file cabinet, so a little box sufficed on holding all that mattered.  Eventually these boxes turned into holding other important items, such as jewelry and perfume.  Today, you will find, they hold absolutely nothing… because we own all too much to keep in just one box.  Their primary function is to simply make people swoon when they see them.

Dimensions:
12" long
8 ½" high (when lid is closed)
13 ¾" high (when lid is open)
