Gray ceramic or stoneware with a green glaze. Presumably made in Japan although there is no label. 

There is a hair line crack on the top as photographed that has a couple of tiny chips out of the green glaze.

There is also what looks like a scratch but it appears to be how the shape was made if you look at the base.
