Beautiful print after the painting, “Madonna of Humility” (Italian, “Madonna dell’Umilta”), by Italian late medieval artist Gentile da Fabriano (1370-1427). The original painting, created around 1420-1423, is displayed in the National Museum of San Matteo (Museo Nazionale di San Matteo) in Pisa, Italy. Picture is printed on textured cardstock paper and frame is made of gold cardstock paper with fold-out “legs” (i.e., a stand) on the back. Age of print is unknown, but it appears to be of recent manufacture. Print and frame measure approximately 7 1/2” x 9 1/8”. Frame opening measures approximately 4 1/4” x 5 7/8”. Paper cover indicates the print and frame were made by Fedrigoni Papers in Italy. Estate sale find. Print would look great matted and placed in a wood frame!

Print appears to be in excellent used condition with spots, stray marks, and streaks of what appears to be gold ink or pigment (perhaps from the printing process?) and very slight wear to the corners and edges. Gold paper frame appears to be in very good used condition with creases, stray marks of gold ink or pigment, wear along the corners and edges, and ragged edges of paper which appear to be set in between the front and back layers of the frame and are present along the top and bottom of the frame opening. Paper cover is appears to be in “good minus” to good condition with spots, stains, wrinkles, creases, small tears, bends and/or folds in the corners, and wear along the edges.
