The scarce 1861 edition of this illustrated mid nineteenth century anthology of poetry relating to prayer and the sabbath, edited by writer, publisher and photographer Joseph Cundall, and with poems from Cowper, Mrs. Hemans, Longfellow, Coleridge, Herbert - and many others - present.

Illustrated throughout with bright vignette chromolithographs from water colorist Birket Foster, printed and engraved by Edmund Evans, who was know for employing and collaborating with famous illustrators.

The book is in near fine condition and beautifully bound in light brown morocco leather. I believe the bookbinder signed the binding with the stamp W.P. appearing on the last flyleaf. (If I'm wrong please correct me.)
